From Principle to Practice:

A User’s Guide to Do No Harm by Marshall Wallace

This Guide is about how to put the principle of “do no harm” into practice while working in complex environments. The techniques in this Guide are meant to be used.

Over the past 20 years, the Do No Harm Project has learned important lessons and key techniques on how work with confidence and effectiveness in situations of conflict and high stress.

How to read this Guide on the web

Putting text on the web is different from putting text on a page. The table of contents to the LEFT follows a different order than the table of contents in the printed Guide, though the content is the same. Just like the printed Guide, it has been made extremely granular. This allows you to jump directly to a topic of interest. Please feel free to jump around to the topics that interest you.Yes, some of the sections are quite short.

I will be adding content to the web version over time.

The grey box at the end of every page will allow you to follow the path of the text in the printed Guide. You do not need to do this, however!

Below the grey box are links to Related Topics in the Guide.

The reference charts to the RIGHT will be referred to on appropriate pages. Each is a one page reference on the topic.

Blue boxes contain examples and additional information. If these are above the grey box, they are also in the text of the printed Guide. If they are below the grey box, they are only available in the web version.

Green boxes contain additional text that is not in the book.

Yellow boxes are cautions about common misunderstandings in using Do No Harm. They highlight areas where some people have felt unable to make use of Do No Harm because of their confusion. If they are below the grey box, they are only available in the web version.
